Overview

What This Is

A complete website built for your business with no upfront payment. You see the finished product. You decide what it's worth. If you're not satisfied, you pay nothing.

This isn't a trick. This isn't a "first month free" subscription trap. This is: I build your website, you see it working, then we talk about payment.

The Exchange

What You Get

  • Full website (5-10 pages) built on modern tech (Next.js)
  • Mobile-responsive design
  • SEO fundamentals baked in
  • Contact forms, social integration, the works
  • 30 days of post-launch tweaks included
  • Full ownership of everything (code, designs, domains—you are never locked in or held hostage)

What I Get

  • A testimonial and case study I can use
  • A portfolio piece showing local work
  • A client who (hopefully) refers me to others
  • Payment based on what you genuinely think it's worth
Process

How It Works

  • 01

    We Talk (30 min)

You tell me about your business. I learn what you need. We agree on scope — what pages, what features, what success looks like. If I don't think I can help, I'll tell you.

  • 02

    I Build (2-3 days)

I build your website. You get updates along the way. You see the work in progress. No surprises.

  • 03

    You Decide

The finished site goes live. You use it. You decide what it's worth. You pay that amount (or nothing, if you're not satisfied).

Once I have 5-10 solid case studies, I go back to normal pricing. But right now, my need for portfolio pieces exceeds my need for cash.

Benefits

Typical Benefits

No Financial Risk

You don't pay until you're happy. If you're never happy, you never pay.

No Commitment

You're not locked into a contract, a retainer, or a subscription.

You See the Work First

Most developers ask for 50% upfront for work you haven't seen. I do the opposite.

Quality Work

I'm motivated to impress you. The better the work, the more likely you are to pay well and refer me.

Fears & Concerns

Common Questions

This sounds too good to be true. What's the catch?

The catch is: I'm trading upfront money for portfolio pieces and testimonials. I'm betting that: 1. You'll be happy with the work 2. You'll pay fairly 3. You'll give me a testimonial I can use 4. You might refer me to others If any of those don't happen, I lose. That's my risk, not yours.

What if I just take the website and pay nothing?

You could. I can't stop you. But here's the thing: most people are decent. If someone does good work for you, you want to pay them. It feels wrong not to. Also, practically speaking: if you pay nothing, you don't get ongoing support. You don't get updates. You don't get a relationship with someone local who can help you later. You get a website, but you burn the bridge. Most people would rather pay fairly and have someone they can call.

What if I can only afford to pay a small amount?

That's fine. Tell me upfront. If your budget is $500 and I know that going in, I can scope accordingly. You'll still get a website that works. The goal isn't to extract maximum payment from everyone. The goal is to build a portfolio, get testimonials, and establish myself locally. Some clients will pay full price. Some will pay less. The average works out.

What if I don't have a business yet?

This offer is for existing businesses. If you're pre-revenue, still figuring out your idea, or don't have customers yet — a website won't solve your problems. Come back when you have a real business. I'll still be here.

What if I'm outside the Okanagan?

This offer is limited to local businesses. If you're outside the Okanagan, this specific offer doesn't apply — but I'm happy to discuss other options.

Reality Check

Is This a Good Idea?

What if people think I'm cheap for taking this offer?

They won't know. Your website won't have a "built for free" badge on it. And honestly, being smart with money isn't cheap. If someone offers you a no-risk way to get a professional website, taking it isn't cheap — it's good business.

Is this sustainable? Will you still be around in a year?

Fair question. Here's the honest answer: This offer is temporary. Once I have enough case studies and testimonials, I'll stop doing it. But I'm not going anywhere. I live here. I'm building a business here. If I do good work and people pay fairly, this becomes a sustainable local business. If I do bad work or people take advantage, I'll fail and go do something else. That's the risk I'm taking.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the typical payment people make?

I don't have enough data yet — that's why I'm doing this. I've had one client pay $4,000 for a project like this. I've had another pay $1,500. It depends on the project and your situation.

Is there a minimum payment?

No hard minimum. But if you pay nothing, I'd appreciate at least a testimonial I can use.

What if I want something more complex than a 5-10 page website?

This offer covers standard websites. E-commerce, custom apps, or unusually complex projects are separate conversations.

How many of these are you doing?

I'm capping it at 10 clients total. Once I have 10 solid case studies, this offer ends.

What if I need hosting and a domain?

I'll help you set those up. Hosting is typically $10-20/month (paid to the hosting provider, not me). Domain is $15-20/year. Those are your costs regardless of what you pay me.

Do I have to give a testimonial?

No. But if you're happy with the work, a testimonial helps me help other local businesses.

Ready for a website with no upfront cost?

30 minutes. I'll learn about your business, tell you if this offer is a fit, and answer any questions. No pressure, no obligation.

This offer is limited to Okanagan businesses and may end without notice.
